HOT WATER TRANSFORMS BIODEGRADABLE PACKAGING INTO A BOWL

Written by topgear. Posted in Ideal Life, New Technology

A new type of packaging which is 100% bio-based and biodegradable can also turn itself into a

bowl when it comes into contact with hot water – making it environmentally friendly and practical.

Swedish-based company Innventia teamed up with designers Anna Glansén and Hanna Billqvist

from the design agency Tomorrow Machine to put together the idea. The partnership was inspired

by a desire to show the possibilities of combining state-of-the-art science with cutting-edge design.

and improved with a precision-machined aluminum adapter that fits both Presta and Schrader valves.

Never leave your pump at home again. Built for Tern bicycles with an inner seat tube diameter of 33.9 mm.

Light Direction in floods

Written by topgear. Posted in Electronic, New Technology

The Safety Light is a lighting system that kicks into action once the streets get flooded and are under

water. As a thumb rule its safer not to use vehicles during this time, but these lights are meant for

those folks who are simply stuck and need to move out of harm’s way. The design combines LED,

an H2O battery and traditional Cat Eyes Road Studs.

Rain water activates the H2O battery’s energy to light the LED light beams, creating a road guide

that can lead car drivers safely through flooded areas, reducing accidents during heavy rainfall~

Color-Changing Gloves

The sensor glove turns blue in the presence of hazardous substances~

Employees in chemical production, the semiconductor industry or in laboratories are frequently

exposed to harmful substances. The problem: Many of these aggressive substances are imperceptible

to human senses, which makes handling them so risky.    Researchers at the Fraunhofer Research

Institution for Modular Solid State Technologies EMFT in Regensburg have engineered a glove that

recognizes if toxic substances are present in the surrounding air. The protective glove is equipped

with custom-made sensor materials and indicates presence of toxic substances by changing colors~

Coffee Table Made Of Candy (For Emergency Eating Only)

Written by topgear. Posted in Home, Ideal Life

Your average table is built to last forever. In moments of extreme crisis, it could maybe even block

bullets in a doorway, or serve as firewood during a nuclear winter.

The Hard Candy Coffee Table built by Lanzavecchia + Wai Designers lasts until the ants get at it. And

in moments of extreme crisis, it can satisfy your caloric intake with a well-saturated sugar shock of

pineapple or strawberry deliciousness. It is, in essence, an emergency source of empty calories

sitting in your living room~

Big pixels are back!

The 8-bit Bumper for iPhone 5 and 8-Bit Sleeve for iPad Mini hearken back to the beginnings of the

video game revolution, when the music was awesome and mushrooms were the most valuable treasure!

The pixelated design and jaggy edges complete the 8-Bit look and durable TPU material keeps iDevices safe.

If Mario had an iPhone, this would have been his bumperand you can own it!

Cloud Lamp

On one hand, ‘Cloud’ is an Arduino-controlled, motion-triggered lightning & thunder

performance. On the other, it is a music-activated visualizer and suspended speaker unit.”

Acting as both a semi-immersive lightning experience, or as speaker with visual feedback,

this nightlight/nightspeaker hybrid introduces a new discourse for what a nightlight could be.

Richard writes: “Advances in physical computing and interaction design hardware over recent

years have created a new breed of smart objects, which are gaining more and more traction

in the design world~

Mesmerizing Photos Of Insects Wearing Hats Made Of Water

Written by topgear. Posted in Creative World

I can’t begin to imagine the patience of Dimitriy Reinshtein, an Israeli photographer who brings

living insects into his studio, places a single drop of water onto their tiny heads, and photographs

them with a razor-sharp macro lens.

But that’s exactly what he does, somehow, to create larger-than-life images that capture the most

fleeting of moments, occurring on the tiniest of subjects.

“For a long time, I shot fashion and jewelry, and one day, I imagined an insect that looks human

(with hats, clothes and all that stuff),” Reinshtein tells Co.Design. “I thought, ‘How can I give insects

a new look?’ So the drop on their head–it’s a kind of hat.”

“No, it was not easy, but if you look forward and work with passion, the difficulty is not a problem,”

Reinshtein writes. “All the insects are alive and healthy. You just need to talk with them, to calm them

and spend a lot of time on one frame.”

Self-Assembling Furniture

Written by topgear. Posted in Home, Ideal Life

I want you to imagine a scene. You come home with a bundle of squished white fabric.

You plug it into the wall like a heating blanket. And within 10 minutes, you have a new chair.

That’s the promise of a new materials technology being developed byNoumenon. Based on research

into the ideal form of a self-deploying space antenna, designer Carl De Smet has been translating the

latticework of pop-up metal into “shape memory polymers”–cheaper plastics that can be smushed

for easy shipment, then popped back into their ”remembered” forms later.
